Valiant Fitness specializes in private personal fitness training live or through online platforms or video. Valiant was founded by Jennifer Glaze-Smida and Jan Smida. They both have many years of high level fitness related experience before becoming certified trainers. Jennifer became a professional Ballerina at the age of 16 and and retired nearly 20 years later from the prestigious Boston Ballet. Jan was a high school and college wrestler and later coached youth wrestling for several years. Their experiences, which required continuous training for many years to retain superior fitness conditioning, enabled them to become true experts in the area of personal fitness instruction.

Jennifer Glaze-Smida
Certified Fitness Trainer and Co-Founder
Since a very young age, Jennifer has been involved in activities leading to a lifelong focus on physical fitness, first as a performer and then as a fitness instructor. At the age of 5, she began ballet lessons. Within a short period of time, it was obvious she had the skills necessary to succeed in the incredibly demanding dance world. With the guidance of world-class teachers and coaches, at the age of 16, she became a professional. At the age of 20, she became a soloist with the Louisville Ballet, and at the age of 26, she became a soloist with the Boston Ballet. For the next several years she danced many of the most important roles for the company performing before thousands of fans and admirers.
When her performing days eventually came to a close at the age of 34, she continued with the company as a Ballet Mistress and Artistic Coordinator, as well as lending her expertise to the school, teaching young artists the art form of ballet.
A few years later she found an appreciation for fitness instruction. After becoming a certified instructor she began her next career with Wellbridge Athletic Club of Cambridge MA. She went on to accumulate several different fitness training certifications which also included Pilates, Spin, and Health coaching. During her time with Wellbridge, she became one of the busiest group fitness instructors and personal trainers in the Boston area, attaining the level of Elite Plus Personal Trainer. Her vast experience is now focused on Valiant and everything needed to make each training session with clients enjoyable and productive.

Jan Smida
Co-Founder
Jan’s participation in competitive athletics began with the sport of wrestling. He competed for many seasons at all levels including a season at Blair Academy, the number 1 ranked High school team in the country. In college, he competed for Boston University and was a place winner in the Division I New England College Wrestling Championships.
The sport requires heavy weight training to be competitive along with a tremendous amount of long-distance running and practice. It is not uncommon for a college wrestler to lift weight similar to a competitive powerlifter in their weight class.
This background allowed for an easy transition to the formal education needed to become and excel as a wrestling coach and fitness instructor.
He enjoys showing and teaching others how to get the most out of their fitness plan.

We are fortunate to draw on our unique experiences in the fitness industry to create an atmosphere of focus, commitment and fun. We believe that there is a greater need for customized fitness plans that cater to the individual aspects of the client. Valiant Fitness has clients ranging from 14 to 92, all with the same goals and ideals, all getting to the end point in their own ways. We have found that many people are not comfortable with the average retail gym, and prefer to workout in a private setting either with us at the Valiant Fitness studio or remotely in their own home via online platforms. Here at the Valiant Fitness studio, we have selected what we believe to be the best types of equipment to help clients achieve any goal. That equipment, along with our expertise in guiding the client allows for a productive and enjoyable session.
Motivation
We understand very well the motivation needed to either start a fitness program or to improve one. We understand it is uncomfortable and it may even hurt at times. But what is the alternative? Do you want to feel better? Do you want more energy? Do you want to regain the strength that you once had either at a younger age or before an injury or illness?
